This guide was written by Cutencuddly a healer main in Method. I’m a multiclass player who is very versatile in all roles. I’ve been playing WoW for 12-13 years and raided since Cataclysm.
Restoration Druid is a versatile healer with access to damage, crowd control and robust healing throughput that makes them one of the best healers for Mythic+. Whilst in a raiding format, Restoration druid falls behind other specs in terms of throughput. In reality for most players; any seasoned Restoration Druid player can raid Mythic without the worry of holding their team back.
Due to the nature of druid healing and how the leech trinket is currently on pbe, it's practically a hot that comes after our hots it's great in sustained damage fights and even for other healers in more normal fights, and I haven't been testing mythic fights this tier, but based on how on/off healing has been most this xpac, I doubt itll be great on us, it'll probably be best on monks with. Ursol's Vortex, Typhoon, Rebirth (Combat Res), Heart of the Wild, Stampeding Roar and Soothe are incredibly valuable utility spells that will see more impact in a Mythic+ setting than in a raid encounter but opportunities will arise in Castle Nathria to use any of the aforementioned abilities to help your raid team.
Heart of the Wild is an exciting spell that allows you to take on greater benefits from your affinity. This will be very impactful for Restoration Druids as it allows you to contribute some meaningful damage in the downtime between raid damage.

What has changed
Some of the biggest changes from BFA to Shadowlands for the spec:
Ironbark - Increases your healing from your heal over time (HoT) effects by 20% is now baseline. It’s CD however has also been increased from 1 minute to 90 seconds.
Nature’s Swiftness - Is back and it’s now baseline; Your next Regrowth, Rebirth or Entangling Roots is instant, free, castable in all forms and heals for an additional 100%.
Cyclone - Is now baseline.
Stampeding Roar - Is now baseline, this is probably one of the biggest changes Restoration Druid received from BFA to Shadowlands. This is a great utility ability and can save a lot of lives if utilised correctly.
Innervate - When cast on an ally you receive 50% of its effect. This ability has had it’s duration reduced to 10 seconds and is now off GCD. This is incredibly big for Restoration Druid as you can now use it on other healers, whilst also being useful for yourself. This way you don’t give it away to something like a disc priest and feel bad about it but instead, buff two healers at once!
Heart of the Wild - A level 35 talent choice with a huge impact on how the class plays, this being added offers a great option for Restoration Druids to deal a lot of damage during healing downtimes.
Swiftmend - Its cooldown has been reduced from 25 seconds to 15 seconds but it now consumes a heal over time effect to instantly heal an ally.
Stats change in value depending on what content you are doing as well as what other stats you currently have. I don’t have stat weights for you, or a pawn string you can use. Anyone who does is misleading you.
Beginner and don’t intend on min-maxing?
Item level is particularly strong at the beginning of every expansion and it is especially so in Shadowlands. You can get pretty close to optimal by just strapping on your highest item level pieces.
Mythic raider looking to get any possible advantage?
Sample screenshot only. Not actual weights. If your weights look like this then see a doctor.
Run a log through WoWAnalyzer for the fight you are currently progressing on. It will be Shadowlands-ready by raid open.
Some notes on stats:
- Intellect is once again our best stat and will remain so through the first tier of Shadowlands at the very least.
- Each secondary stat goes up in value the more you have of the other secondaries, which when combined with the strength of intellect makes just picking your highest ilvl gear particularly strong.
- All of our secondaries are great. Enjoy it! Other specs are not as lucky as we are.
- Stats start to have diminishing returns at 30% which shouldn’t be an issue in the first tier. QE Live’s Top Gear module automatically includes them.
So why is gearing for item level so much better than aiming for specific secondaries?
There are a couple of things that makes picking your highest ilvl gear a strong strategy. Firstly, our secondaries are all close in value and your best secondary will often change from fight to fight. A fight with heavy debuff and tank damage will make mastery look a little better and a fight where the damage is spread will make it look a little worse. Secondly, the more you get of any secondary stat the more valuable all of the others become. Third, you get a huge helping of intellect when you increase your item level and because your secondary weights are so close together this int increase outweighs everything else. Optimizing your secondary stats is a tiny throughput increase and you’re always better off spending that time and effort improving your playstyle or looking through logs to optimize your rotation.
Stats in Mythic+
Wow Resto Druid Best In Slot Trinkets
Mastery and Haste are stronger in Mythic+ where you tend to have larger HoT stacks because of the smaller party size and frequent opportunities to drink however Mastery offers no increase to our DPS. If you think of it as your most powerful healing stat, and least powerful DPS stat, you can make a decision from there based on your playstyle. Gearing for item level is still a strong and sound strategy.
Reagents
Flask: Spectral Flask of Power (+70 intellect)
Gems: The BFA +7 intellect gem is still worth using, but only just. Slot +16 Haste gems into your other sockets. I also won’t blame you if you forgo the intellect gem given there’s a fair chance they are nerfed a second time.
Potions: Potion of Spiritual Clarity appears to be our best choice, so long as you’re able to sit for 10 seconds during the fight.
Weapon Oil:Embalmer’s Oil. These are pretty low value so you’ll use them but don’t expect large results.
Enchants
Weapon: Celestial Guidance (intellect proc). Eternal Grace is not competitive.
